This course offers a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning and acquiring skills on the pottery wheel while grasping the fundamental concepts. Prior experience is not necessary to join the course, although it is recommended to participate in a basic taster session before committing to the full course.

Throughout this five-week beginners' course, our aim is to cover the fundamental aspects of working with clay. By the end of the course, you will gain the ability to work independently on the pottery wheel and comprehend the entire process from beginning to end.

The course structure is as follows:

**Week 3:** Learning Pottery trimming techniques

**Week 4:** Further practice in throwing on the wheel

Sampada’s ceramics workshop was insightful, relaxing and above all fun. The small group ensured that Sampada was able to provide tailored teaching to each student and coach them them in how to progress in various aspects of ceramics. 

Sampada’s class demonstrated multiple techniques used in hand modelling of clay to produce creative and organic structures as well as the use of the potters wheel for more symmetrical shapes. 

I would certainly recommend Sampada’s workshop to anyone who is wanting to learn more about ceramics or just wanting a flavour of it.

Sampada made me feel much more confident, the studio has a very relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to learn too quickly. She also makes sure everyone has something to show for their time too. The class activities fit the description on Obby. The class was relaxed, we listened to some music and even managed to have some tea & biscuits. The teacher, Sampada, is a really easy person to talk to. She walked me through all techniques, was always knowledgable when I had no idea how to continue. The wheel throwing was probably my most favourite part! 

 The studio is neat and filled with Sampada’s artwork. First-timers in the area, make sure you have some extra time for you arrival - the entrance is little hidden and it took me some time to find it! :-)

The groups are kept purposely small which means that you get plenty of advice, attention and guidance. The explanations are clear, easy to follow and visual as Sampada adopts a hands on approach. The learning pace adapts to each person and it is made very clear that we are here to enjoy and relax.  She has this very communicative positive, energetic attitude which keeps the workshop light and fun. The venue is also great, it is bright, spacious and comfortable. Slightly Curious studio is a great place to both learn and practice pottery. We covered both throwing and hand-crafting in this session and I really enjoyed the format of it: she starts off by showing you different techniques and tips as to how to do things, then gives you free reign to try them out and experiment or practice. If you need, she's great at giving you guidance as to how to achieve a specific design if you have one in mind. Overall Slightly Curious is a wonderful and relaxing environment to do pottery in (I should also mention the studio is really aesthetic and has an adorable view on a canal with boats and ducks) and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try out or practice pottery!

This was great!!! I had a great time. Sampada made everything really easy and entertaining. And her studio is GORGEOUS. It was a great activity. If anything, I do believe that for the price of the workshop there should be at least glazing and firing included for one piece - maybe offer only one glazing colour, but give everyone the option to take one of their pieces home as something included in the price. If anyone wants more pieces, or different colours, they can pay for those! But I think this would give an even better memory of the workshop. It was a great day regardless, and would really recommend.

A lovely facility, bright, modern and well equipped. A well paced class, with good teaching - and using the wheel really was good fun.  Only downside; because of the nature of clay you cannot take your work home with you - it needs to dry out for a couple of weeks. Collection 3/4 weeks after the session and will be kept for one months after the collection time .
In light of the current COVID-19 please be aware of the health and safety guild-lines. The studio is fully sanitised and cleaned before and after the workshop.
